Founding of Optik Hugo Weber
Hugo Weber takes over the Kurt Wolff lens grinding shop and changes the company name to Optik Hugo Weber
For over 60 years, Weber has stood for precision ophthalmic lenses, reliable quality, and collaborative partnership with the ophthalmic optics trade. As an independent, owner-managed company with its own production in Germany, we combine technological expertise, international design impulses, and personal support into a holistic value proposition.
Our goal is not only to supply opticians with high-quality products but to support them in their long-term success. Short decision-making paths, individual solutions, and a deep understanding of daily life in the specialist shop characterize our work to this day.
Tradition, innovation, and responsibility form the
foundation of our actions—yesterday, today, and in the future.
The family business Weber Brillengläser in Kamen, which has existed since 1960, has had new owners since May 2022. Martin Ulm and Korhan Gazi combine their backgrounds and provide the current course with new coordinates for the future.
Korhan Gazi brings over 16 years of experience in ophthalmic optics and is responsible for the commercial management and strategic direction of the company.
Martin Ulm looks back on more than 35 years of technical expertise in lens production and leads the technology and production department. Together, they stand for quality, progress, and sustainable growth—“Made in Germany.”
Creating Clear Vision Together
Our history is shaped by a passion for good vision, technical precision, and collaborative partnership.
For more than six decades, we have been developing high-quality ophthalmic lenses together with our partner opticians,
combining innovation and quality.

Technological progress and environmental responsibility are inseparable for Weber. By using sustainable systems such as the ART Blocker from Satisloh, we specifically optimize our coating processes and reduce material loss, chemical use, and waste volumes.
Through precise control of the coating and the efficient use of resources, we achieve consistently high quality standards while minimizing our ecological footprint. In this way, we combine innovative manufacturing technology with responsible action.
Sustainability is not an add-on at Weber, but an integral part of our corporate strategy. Our lens production in Germany enables short delivery routes, transparent processes, and high energy efficiency along the entire value chain.
In conjunction with continuous process optimization, resource-saving technologies, and durable products, we create sustainable quality that combines economic stability and ecological responsibility—for our partner opticians, for end customers, and for future generations.
